One of the most important questions we answer for our couples is WHEN do the different pieces of our wedding stationery go out? Over the last year and a half, this answer has changed almost monthly, but now that things are somewhat stabilizing (at least in regards to planning larger events) we can offer some tips on when to plan on sending out all the lovely paper!
SAVE THE DATES
2022 is on track to be the BUSIEST wedding season in decades. What does that mean for you? You are going to want to get on your guests' calendars as soon as possible! Normally we recommend sending out Save the Dates anywhere from 6-12 months in advance - right now we are recommending sending them ASAP, especially if you have out of town guests. Don't have time for custom or semi-custom design? Electronic options are great! Some even have a feature where you can ask your guests to submit their mailing addresses, to make collecting info for mailing the invitations that much easier!
INVITATIONS
If you do Save the Dates (even digital ones), we are going back to our pre-COVID recommendation of 3 months prior to your wedding date. If you don't do Save the Dates, we recommend going out as far as 4 months to give guests as much time as possible to make arrangements for travel and accommodations. Something else to keep in mind - the US Postal Service is announcing a slow down in service for the holidays that we anticipate may continue through 2022. Invitations that may have arrived in 1-3 days before could now take 5-7, even locally. Take that into consideration for your invitation delivery AND your RSVP returns.
SO... WHEN SHOULD WE START?
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! As I know EVERYONE is sick of hearing, we are up against some serious supply chain and delivery issues right now. Paper shortages are anticipated to continue through 2022, so if you want all the bells and whistles for your stationery to be just right (because we sure do!) let's start planning as soon as you're ready.
